With dental implants, your dentist has a permanent way to replace your natural teeth. At Simply Teeth in Essex we have a skilled implantology team. They can use this treatment to replace anything from one to all of your teeth – no matter how you came to lose them.
Using Dental Implants To Replace Missing Teeth
Whilst dental implants are often described as replacement teeth, this isn’t strictly correct. Implants are in fact replacement tooth roots. They are placed in your jaw under either local anaesthetic or conscious sedation at our Essex dental practice. Once in position, the process of osseointegration begins. Which sees your dental implants form a very strong bond with your jaw bone. Similar to that of a natural tooth root, in fact.
Once osseointegration and healing are complete, your dentist will then attach your new teeth. These can be either dentures, a bridge, or a single crown – to the abutments on top of your implants. in the end giving you new teeth that are very realistic in terms of both action and appearance.
In the case of multiple tooth replacement, you will not usually need as many dental implants as teeth. Usually, a series of precisely placed dental implants can support a full arch of teeth in either bridge or denture form. The number of implants you will need will be discussed by your dentist when you come in to Simply Teeth in Essex for your initial consultation.
All-On-4
One popular option for patients who need all the teeth in one or both jaws at our Essexdental practice is a procedure called “All-on-4 implant-supported dentures”. As you have probably already worked out from the name. This involves our Essex implant dentist Dr Riz Syed placing just four dental implants per jaw, which is enough to support a full denture.
Dr Syed will then immediately load your dental implants with dentures. This means you will walk out of the dental practice the very same day. And with a set of functional new teeth. All-on-4 implant treatment is a good option for patients who have areas of low bone density. This because they are designed to maximise the existing jaw bone that you do have.
