The Invisalign® difference

How our Invisalign® process works

The Invisalign® system is a high-tech process that utilises much of the very latest technology and innovation available in the dentistry industry today. Let us take you through the process now so you understand exactly what’s involved.

Custom measurement

We start by taking an impression of your teeth and a number of other relevant measurements that help to create your personalised set of Invisalign® clear braces – this is where the extra level of care and attention to detail starts – from the very first stage of your treatment.

Send your data to HQ

We then send your personalised data to the Invisalign® headquarters, and a 3D treatment plan will be organised for you laying out how the treatment will proceed and what you need to do over the coming months on your journey to achieving your dream smile.

Updates aligners every 14 days

Treatment involves wearing a set of transparent aligners that are changed approximately every two weeks. Each aligner moves your teeth a little bit more until they have reached the goal position. You will continue to wear retainers at night to keep your teeth in place.

Key Benefits of Invisalign®

There are numerous benefits for you in using the Invisalign® system, but for your convenience we have narrowed things down to what we feel are the really key benefits.

Invisible Appearance

Invisalign® trays are invisible! They are completely clear so they don’t detract from your face or smile. This is an especially great option for adults, teens, and young adults who want to live life without the brackets and wires associated with traditional braces.

Comfort

Invisalign® trays are made of smooth plastic, making Invisalign much more comfortable than traditional metal braces. There are no sharp/extruding edges or pieces of Invisalign, and the trays are custom-made to fit your teeth and mouth!

Improved Cleanliness

Invisalign® trays are removable – when you are ready to brush and floss your teeth, you just remove the trays, clean your teeth, then pop them back in. The trays themselves can also be cleaned, and you can remove the trays and rinse or brush them.

FAQ’s about Invisalign®

Have a question about Invisalign®? Read our FAQ below or request a callback and we can answer it for you.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign has been around for more than 20 years, it was first started in San Jose in America in 1997 by its two founders. It has now developed into a global network of clinicians including world-renowned orthodontists who not only use, but develop the system and push boundaries.

It is a set of aligners that are custom-made using a 3D advanced computer, which maps out how teeth should move and develops minimal changes in each aligner, until the desired result is achieved. It allows for full discretion, and includes patented technology which allows for maximum comfort when wearing the braces.

Why should I choose Invisalign?

Invisalign has patented technology which allows for slow forces to be distributed on teeth and bone, so that over a period of time they allow for movement of teeth.

Reasons for choosing Invisalign over tradional braces include:

Invisible Appearance – Invisalign trays are invisible! They are completely clear so they don’t detract from your face or smile. This is an especially great option for adults, teens, and young adults who want to live life without the brackets and wires associated with traditional braces.

Comfort –  Invisalign trays are made of smooth plastic, making Invisalign much more comfortable than traditional metal braces. There are no sharp/extruding edges or pieces of Invisalign and the trays are custom made to fit your teeth and mouth!

Improved Cleanliness – Invisalign trays are removable – when you are ready to brush and floss your teeth, just remove the trays, clean your teeth, then pop them back in. The trays themselves can also be cleaned! To make sure there is no build up, just remove the trays and rinse or brush them with your toothbrush. A clean mouth is a healthy mouth!

It is important to have healthy teeth and gums while straightening your teeth so you will have to best smile possible at the end of treatment!

Saves Time – With Invisalign, you will be able to spend less time at the orthodontist or dentist’s office, as they only need to be maintained every 6 weeks on average. Other teeth straightening options can take much more time and many more appointments.

Safe and Removable – Is your child or teen into sports or in a band? Invisalign allows for a more comfortable experience without the scrapes other orthodontic options can cause. Invisalign trays are also removable, which makes brushing your teeth, eating, and everyday life more convenient than other options.

Eat Whatever You Want – Food restrictions are one of the worst parts about teeth straightening, with many orthodontic options. Some of your favorite foods are off limits, which can really ruin a special celebration, with anything too hard, chewy, or sticky being off limits! These issues are not a problem for Invisalign. You can remove the trays and eat whatever you want!

Better Dental Health – Straight teeth are better for your gums and dental health. Eliminating crowding and gaps makes it easier to care for your teeth, better dental health leads to better overall health.

Beautifully Straight Teeth – The results speak for themselves and Invisalign leads to beautifully straight teeth and a wonderful smile. Possibly the best reason to use Invisalign!

What happens during Invisalign® treatment?

Treatment begins with impressions of your teeth, which are sent to a lab where the aligners will be created. Each aligner is created based on images developed using three-dimensional modeling software for a custom fit. Between 18 and 30 aligners will be created for most patients. During treatment, each aligner is worn for about two weeks, then exchanged for the next aligner in the series.

Does Invisalign® work the same way as traditional metal braces?

Invisalign® is designed to straighten and properly align teeth just like metal braces. However, instead of relying on metal bands or ceramic plates and wires that are attached to the tooth surfaces, the Invisalign® system uses a series of clear removable trays, similar to the trays used in teeth whitening procedures, to help move teeth into their proper positions over time.

What benefits does Invisalign® offer compare to other types of braces?

Invisalign® is made of clear, medical-grade plastic, so the aligners are very difficult to see while they’re being worn. The aligners are smooth, so they don’t irritate lips and other soft tissues, and they can be removed for cleaning, making it much easier to brush and floss for better oral health during treatment. Plus, they can be removed for eating, so there are no dietary restrictions. Finally, because each aligner is custom-made for the individual patient, Invisalign® may bring teeth into alignment faster than traditional braces.

Can I eat and drink during my Invisalign treatment?

Yes, the main advantage is that you can remove the braces when eating and drinking, so it really has no affect on your social and everyday life.

Do Invisalign aligners hurt?

Initially when fitted we usually say for the first 4-5 days patients will feel pressure on their teeth. This is normal, and good and means the braces are working. The discomfort is slight, and usually only happens when the aligners are changed.

Are there any side effects ?

Initially speech may be slight different for the first few days, but this always resolves and has never really been a concern. It is very important that oral hygine is done religiously, so teeth should be rinsed or brushed after eating, so that there is no food in between the teeth.

How long do I need to wear the aligners for?

Aligners need to be worn for at least 22 hours a day, we recommend only taking them out when brushing and eating.

What happens if I don't wear the aligners when I should?

Teeth can relapse during treatment, but all you have to do is wear the previous aligner and they will quickly come back on track.

What are the aligners made of?

The aligners are made of a srong medical grade plastic, which are custom-designed to fit snugly over your teeth.

Will my teeth move after I have finished the treatment?

Teeth have ligaments that hold them in the jaw, they are like springs, and like springs they will want to try and go back intially to the place they were prior to the treatment. We always fit patients with removable retainers, this is to minimise the relapse and to train the ligaments into adopting the new position permanently.

What are Vivera Retainers?

Vivera retainers are retainers which are made by Invisalign. They are usually an additional cost at the end of treatment, and 3 sets of retainers are provided. This is the ultimate in retainers, and they are deisgned for comfort, we always recommend these.

Do you offer finance / can I spread the payments for my Invisalign treatment?

Yes, we offer an in-house payment solution, if you have a good credit history we can usually organise finance on the day and get the process started straight away.

I had braces when i was younger, can i still have Invisalign?

Yes, Invisalign can be done at any point in life.

What is the minimum age for Invisalign?

Invisalign now offer Invisalign Teen, which can be started as young as 16 years old, to help create a beautiful smile.

What guarantee do I get?

We guarantee Invisalign Full for 5 years, and anything else is guaranteed for 18 months. You get to keep your aligners even after treatment in case you need them, which acts as a further guarantee.
