    Kid’s Consultation FAQ’s

Have a question about Kid’s Consultations?

Chances are you’ll find the answer in our FAQ below, but if you can’t then simply request a callback and we can answer your question for you in person.

When should my child start seeing a dentist?

Parents often wonder about the right age to start dental visits for their children. It is recommended that a child’s first dental visit should occur by their first birthday or within six months of the eruption of the first tooth. Early dental visits help establish a foundation for good oral health habits.

What qualifications and experience should I look for in a pediatric dentist?

Parents want to ensure that their child’s dentist is qualified and experienced in working with children. Look for a dentist who is a pediatric specialist or has experience in pediatric dentistry. Pediatric dentists undergo additional training to address the unique needs of children, including behavior management and child-friendly approaches.

How can I prepare my child for their dental visit?

Parents are often concerned about how to make the dental experience positive for their children. Dentists recommend talking to children about the upcoming visit in a positive manner, using age-appropriate language. It’s also beneficial to choose a dentist who has a child-friendly office environment and staff.

What preventive measures and treatments are available for my child?

Parents want to know about preventive care and treatment options to ensure their child’s dental health. Dentists should discuss preventive measures such as fluoride treatments, dental sealants, and regular cleanings. They should also provide information on common dental issues in children and their respective treatments.

How do I handle dental anxiety or fear in my child?

Many children may experience dental anxiety or fear. Parents want to know how the dentist addresses this issue. Pediatric dentists are trained to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere to help alleviate anxiety. Techniques such as positive reinforcement, explaining procedures in a child-friendly manner, and using distraction methods can be part of the approach to reduce fear.
