Tooth Fillings
About Fillings
As part of our expertise in restorative cosmetic dentistry, we offer tooth-coloured and white fillings. White fillings have certain advantages over silver (amalgam) fillings. Before having a filling placed, talk to your Simply Teeth dentist about having it completed in white. If you have old silver fillings that you would like us to change, we are happy to offer you this service – get in contact today.

Types of Fillings
Tooth coloured fillings – sometimes referred to as white fillings – are used to fill in cavities and protect your tooth from getting infected. Tooth coloured fillings are made from either a composite or glass ionomer and are secured onto the tooth with either a chemical reaction or resin. We provide our expert tooth-coloured/white filling services to patients across Essex, covering Ilford, Romford, Basildon, Tilbury and beyond. Composite tooth-coloured fillings contain powdered glass and ceramic which is added to a resin base. This type of filling is not as hard wearing as an amalgam filling. Glass Ionomer Fillings, Essex Glass ionomer fillings are made from powdered glass which chemically bonds with the tooth. This type of tooth coloured filling is normally applied to milk teeth or around the sides of your tooth.
Benefits of Fillings
- No mercury
- Bonds better to teeth
- Less drilling due to better bonding
- More aesthetically pleasing
- Fewer long term fractures than silver fillings (amalgams)
- Fewer long-term sensitivity issues compared to silver fillings, as they have no metallic particles
